The Torah Scroll pictures in this gallery are from a 350 year old scroll from Kolin, in today's Czech Republic.It survived the Holocaust in Europe. B'nai Israel Synagogue in Rochester, MN repaired it and restored it to life.

alupu > Bringing a Torah scroll back to life, restoring each letter and each parchment piece. This specific Torah scroll was written about 350 years ago in Kolin (now the Czech Republic). It survived the Holocaust and in May 2011 B'nai Israel Synagogue in Rochester, MN completed the full restoration of the scroll. After more than 70 years, used it during a Saturday morning service bringing it back to life.

alupu > The Western Wall (or Wailing Wall) can trigger many emotions, be a place for contemplation, and as the amount of notes placed by people of all religions, be a place to summarize hopes and requests. In other places or circumstances sitting in front of a wall would have been a sign of punishment or repentance. In front of the Western Wall is appears to be a source of reflection and spiritual connection for this person. He was oblivious of the noise around him. He sat there, in front of the wall immersed on his own spiritual and religious endeavor.
